GLSCL (Weather) Recap - June 17
All six games in the #GLSCL were affected by the heavy storms that ripped through the state of Ohio on Wednesday. Here is a look and how the games were rescheduled.
The June 17 daily GLSCL recap is more of a weather update as heavy storms ripped through most of the state of Ohio. Six games were scheduled to be played and a grand total of four and a half innings were played on this Wednesday afternoon. Below is the postponement and rescheduling announcements.
GRAND LAKE MARINERS vs. LIMA LOCOS
MONTGOMERY FIELD - Weather began to effect this series on Tuesday when the game at Simmons Field was suspended in the top of the fourth inning. The plan was to resume the suspended game to its nine-inning regulation conclusion and play than play a seven-inning contest as the regularly scheduled game on Wednesday in Celina at Montgomery Field.
Instead, that plan was pushed back to Thursday with the same format but those games will instead be played in Lima at Simmons Field beginning at 5:35pm.
Furthermore, an additional double header will be played on July 14 at Montgomery Field between the two teams hopefully getting the schedule balanced and back on track.
FLAG CITY SLUGGERS vs. SOUTHERN OHIO COPPERHEADS
MARATHON DIAMONDS - The Flag City Sluggers versus Southern Ohio Copperheads game in Findlay scheduled for Wednesday was also postponed.
The series will now shift to Athens on Thursday where the two teams will play a double header at Bob Wren Stadium beginning at 5:35.
XENIA SCOUTS vs. MUSKEGON CLIPPERS
GRADY'S FIELD - The Xenia Scouts versus Muskegon Clippers game in Xenia on Wednesday was also postponed.
The series will remain at the Xenia Athletes in Action Sports Complex where the two teams will make up the postponement with a double header on Thursday. First pitch on Grady's Field at Browne Stadium is schedule for 3:05pm.
MICHIGAN MONARCHS 5 HAMILTON JOES 5 - SUSPENDED/Bottom of 5th Inning
FOUNDATION FIELD - The Hamilton Joes and the Michigan Monarchs were scheduled to play a double header on Wednesday were the GLSCL schedule was finalized last fall. Amazingly enough the event actually got started but was suspended during the first scheduled game.
The score was tied 5-5 with two outs in the bottom of the fifth inning with the Joes at bat and two runners on base. That is when the game went into a weather delay and was eventually suspended.
Things are a little more complicated when the series moves to Michigan in mid-July. It will be much easier to just explain the results of the rescheduled dates as opposed how it effects the original schedule. Below is the aftermath of the new series schedule with all games being played at in Southgate, Michigan at Southgate High School:
* July 14 - Resumption of suspended game at 3:35pm.
* July 14 - Regularly scheduled game (7 innings) at 6:05pm.
* July 15 - Double header (two 7-Inning games) at 3:35pm.
* July 16 - Single 9-Inning game at 5:05pm.
