Matt Aldridge wins GLSCL Player of the Week Award
Matt Aldridge of the Grand Lake Mariners who plays for Pitt Community College is the GLSCL Player of the Week.
GLSCL PLAYER OF THE WEEK - June 15, 2026
Matt Aldridge - Grand Lake Mariners - Pitt Community College
Matt Aldridge hit for a .344 batting (11-for-32) average with a hit in eight games reaching base in all nine games on the season dating back to opening day on June 5th. Aldridge leads the GLSCL with 16 runs scored, 22 total bases and its tied for the top spot with three home runs. The left handed hitting leadoff hitter also has six stolen bases including four against the Hamilton Joes in his Mariners debut.
Aldridge has helped Grand Lake to a league best 8-1 record out of the leadoff spot in the batting order. He has been instrumental to the team's turnaround as the Mariners only need four more wins to exceed the team's total victories (11) in each of the last two seasons. His slash line has been a .344 average along with a .533 on base percentage and a .688 slugging percentage.
The Greenville, North Carolina just completed his freshman season at Pitt Community College. Aldridge hit .378 with nine homers and 59 RBIs played 41 games for the Bulldogs playing both left field and first base.
HONORABLE MENTION - Player of the Week
Owen McKoon - Hamilton Joes - University of Louisiana Monroe
Owen McKoon hit .429 for the Hamilton Joes going 9-for-21 at the plate. McKoon hit for the cycle on June 12 against the Flag City Sluggers. He was the first GLSCL player to hit for the cycle since 2024 and was just the fifth to do so since 2012.
Jack Drew - Xenia Scouts - The Masters University
Jack Drew finished the voting timeline (June 5 through June 14) hitting .455 for the Scouts going 10-for-22 at the plate. Drew had two homers and eight RBIs, two doubles with a .500 on base percentage and an GLSCL-high .818 slugging percentage.

The Great Lakes Summer Collegiate, founded in 1987, is a wood-bat league that is certified by the NCAA and is partially funded by Major League Baseball. The GLSCL is a non-profit 501(c)(3) entity that is one of 12 members of the National Alliance of Collegiate Summer Baseball (NACSB). The league currently consists of 8 active franchises in Ohio and Michigan boasting several players that have earned service time in major league baseball.
