GRAND LAKE MARINERS 8 vs. XENIA SCOUTS 2 - FINAL
MONTGOMERY FIELD - The Grand Lake Mariners continue to be the only undefeated GLSCL team after notching an 8-2 win at home over the Xenia Scouts.
The Mariners (4-0) broke open a 2-2 tie scoring twice in the seventh and four more times in the eighth for the victory.
Luke Wildes (St. John's River State College) blasted a two-run homer after the seventh inning stretch giving Grand Lake a 4-2 advantage.
Landon Tiesing (Kent State) grounded into a fielder's choice in bottom of the eighth driving home Noah Drake (Indiana University). Brandt Kendall (Ball State) put the came out of reach smacking a bases loaded double driving in three RBI.
The Grand Lake bullpen, who has been shaky at best so far this season, put in a good effort closing out the game.
Elias Alvarado (St. John's River State College) pitched two hitless, scoreless innings only allowing one base runner closing out the game. Alvarado struck out four batters including the final two of the game.
Alex Dues (Marietta College) preceded Alvarado with two scoreless innings of his own earning his second victory of the young season. Dues struck out three of the seven batters he face only allowing one hit.
Each team traded single runs in the top and bottom halves in each of the first two innings.
Ethan Moore's (North Alabama) RBI-single gave the Scouts (2-2) a lead early in the top of the first when Copper Schutte (Harding University) crossed the plate. Huston Dunn (Ball State) answered for the Mariners with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the innings driving home Matt Aldridge (Pitt Community College).
In the top of the second inning, Xenia took the lead back when Mayo Fernandez (Grace College) scored on a base hit by Cole Rohlmeier (The Masters University). Unfortunately, the rally ended when Rohlmeier was thrown out at second by Aldridge from left field trying to stretch the single into a double.
The Mariners tied it in the bottom of the second when Tiesing drove in the first of his two RBI chasing home Drake from second base.
The series shifts to Xenia on Wednesday for the rubber game with the Scouts hosting on Grady's Field at Brown Stadium. First pitch at the Athletes in Action Sports complex is set for 7:05pm.
LIMA LOCOS 4 vs. MICHIGAN MONARCHS 3 - FINAL
SIMMONS FIELD - The Lima Locos survived a nail biting ninth rally by the Michigan Monarchs hanging on for a 4-3 win at Simmons Field
The Locos (3-1) lead by a score of 3-1 going into the top of the ninth inning when the Monarchs put a scare into the home team.
Michigan (1-3) loaded the bases with no outs starting the ninth inning. J.J. Fontana (Colorado State-Pueblo) lead off with a bunt single, pinch hitter Trent Hartman (Notre Dame) and Ryan McKay (Michigan State transfer) followed reaching on back-to-back walks.
Lima turned to its bullpen in the name of lefty Adam Guillet (Louisiana Tech) for a high leverage relief situation.
Guillet grounded into a double play recording the first two outs allowing Fontana to score from third base. With the score now 4-3, Guillet induced Bret Perry (UIndy) into a game ending groundout to the shortstop.
Gulliet, who appears to be developing into the Locos closer, recorded his second save of the season.
Ryne Michaeloff (Southern Indiana) pitched four and 2/3 innings out of the Lima bullpen with five strikeouts earning the victory.
Locos catcher Shane Miranda (Notre Dame) was 3-for-3 at the plate with an RBI and one run scored.

He advanced to third base when Braden Sprague (Central Oklahoma) reached on an error. Mason Jacob (UT San Antonio) was at the plate with runners on second and third after Sprauge stole second base.
Muskegon relief pitcher Zane Gregg (Davenport University) uncorked a wild pitch on ball four to Jacob allowing O'Brien to scamper home from third base with the winning run.

Southern Ohio (1-3) forced extra innings when relief pitcher Jackson Dempsey (Lincoln Memorial), who allowed two base runners, struck out the side.
In the tenth inning, the Copperheads scored twice taking a 6-4 advantage. Brady Kaufman's (Princeton University) infield single drove in Konnor Pittman (transfer portal) taking the lead. Cal Leighton (Bradley University) scored what was thought to be an insurance run when Lance Morgan (High Point) was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
In the bottom of the tenth, the Joes answered scoring twice tying the game at 6-6. Ryder Kirtley's (Miami University) two-run double did the trick driving home both Brady Bowen (University of Akron) and Alex Koelling (Miami University).
The Joes won the coin flip at the beginning of sudden death electing to go on offense.
Noah Wagster (Earlham College) was inserted into the game as pinch runner and placed on first base as the automatic runner. Wagster advanced to second base when Preston Zumwalt (University of Toledo) was issued a walk. After Wagster stole third base, pinch hotter A.J. Beggs (Southwest Illinois College) was intentionally walked loading the bases with nobody out.
Wagster scored the game winner easily from third on an RBI-single off the bat of Parker Falkenstein (Wright State).
